John Murray becomes an Honorary Fellow of the AusIMM

John Murray

We are delighted to announce that Swann founder John Murray has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).

One of the most prestigious honours the Institute can bestow, the award has been made as the Swann Group begins its celebrations of 30 years since John founded the company, and the AusIMM marks its 130-year anniversary.

John’s nomination was supported by several notable industry figures. It recognises John’s contribution as a confidante to senior leaders in mining and beyond, his role in supporting the Melbourne Mining Club, and his championing of Australia in the sector.

One of the supporters of John’s nomination said,

“John Murray has unquestionably contributed to Australia being recognised as best in the world in everything mining and minerals processing.”

John Murray confessed to being ‘stunned’ by the award and added,

“I’ve been very privileged in my career, as the resource industry has provided me with many opportunities and support over the past three decades. I am humbled and honoured to be associated with the AusIMM Fellowship Alumni. The AusIMM is an extraordinary organisation in its furthering and enhancing the reputation of the industry.”

The AusIMM say this about their awards:

“The AusIMM Awards recognise the achievements, professional excellence and leadership of many of our talented members working in the resources industry. The annual awards program is an important platform to recognise excellence across a range of categories.”

An Awards Dinner will take place later this year.
